Galway Races kicking off without its usual 130,000 spectators. The Galway Races are kicking off behind closed doors today with a much different atmosphere than what it is used to. It is perhaps the most social horse-racing event in the country each year and will miss its 130,000 spectators. The 7 day competition's first race will be at 4:10pm, taking place at the Ballybrit track.
Van Den Bergh beats the odds to take World Matchplay darts title. Dimitri Van Den Bergh overcame 100/1 odds to defeat Gary Anderson in the World Matchplay competition. It was the 26-year-old's first time appearing in the tournament, shocking everyone to win 18-10 in the final. The victory sees the Belgian jump from his 26th place world ranking, to number 16.
Manchester City to take on Real Madrid despite quarantine travel rule. The Champion's League fixture between Manchester City and Real Madrid will continue to take place despite quarantine travel rules imposed by the UK. Currently, people travelling from Spain to the UK must quarantine for 14-days, but sports teams appear to be exempt. The last-16 second leg fixture is due to take place in City's Etihad Stadium on the 7th August, as Spain's coronavirus cases continue to increase.
