FC Barcelona to seek compensation from Nike over defective jerseys. Footballing giant FC Barcelona are seeking compensation from Nike after a defect in their new football kits was discovered, preventing them from capitalising on a sales window at the end of the season. The Spanish club are reportedly looking for as much as €20 million from the manufacturer as the latest design of the jerseys could not go on sale to fans as planned.
2020 Ryder Cup postponed 12 months. The 2020 Ryder Cup has officially been postponed until 2021. The competition was due to take place from 25 September in Wisconsin, but the ongoing pandemic deemed it preferable to delay the tournament for 12 months. The biennial event will now see each competition pushed back by a year, meaning that Rome will host in 2023 instead of 2022.
Six Premiership rugby players test positive for coronavirus. Six rugby players in the English Premiership have tested positive for coronavirus, along with four staff members. This comes as Premiership clubs move to Stage Two of returning to the sport, which involves close contact training in small groups. The competition hopes to be back in action by 15 August, and the organisation says that the players who have tested positive, along with their close contacts, are now in isolation.
